Laingsburg Elementary School

Dear Parents:

Welcome to the wonderful world of 5th Grade!  It has been nice to meet many of you. I look forward to meeting those of you at Open House that I’ve not yet had the pleasure of making your acquaintance.

Students should have the following supplies:

5 to 7 folders (one for each class and an extra)

Binders are a great resource for students to organize their "stuff", but are not required. I’ve found that pocket portfolios or                            PENDAFLEX binders work really well for many kids who often “lose” items in trapper keepers.

A combination lock for their locker

         1 box of Kleenex

The following supplies would be helpful for your student to have.  I have extras in the classroom, but personal supplies would be beneficial for each student.

Glue or Glue sticks

Scissors

Markers / colored pencils / crayons

At least 2 packages of blue or black pens

At least 2 packages of pencils

2 hi-lighters

1 package of red pencils / pens

pencil box

ruler

I also highly recommend having book covers for all school books.  The stretchy varieties are quite easy to use.  Three of the large text book size and three of the standard (paperback) size will be put to good use, thus ensuring that our text books and novels will last for many years to come!   The good old fashioned paper bag route is certainly more economical, but a bit more challenging to put on.

Thank you for your consideration!

Sincerely,

Dean Meyer
